Today, 16th of August in Šepurina st. Rochus is celebrated with the already traditional procession and entertainment program in the evening.
The earliest worship of st. Rochus started in his native Montepellier in 1420 and soon spread to the north of Italy. In Venice, during the plague in 1477, the brotherhood of st. Rochus was founded, and in Rome in 1499. They built a church on Ripeta as their patron saint. He is regarded as the patron saint of leprosy, plague, cholera and generally infectious diseases, the disabled, surgeons, and is also called upon to help against diseases of domestic animals.
