June 25, 2019 – The library is dedicated to our Faust Vrančić, born in Šibenik, one of the most prominent humanists in Europe, as the author of ‘Dictionary of the Five Most Noble European Languages’ (1595), the first Croatian vocabulary in general. It was officially presented on the waterfront of Šibenik and placed on the facade of the Tourist Information Center.
This library is part of the Open Door Library project – Šibenik – a city-friend of books initiated by the Cultural Association Fotopoetika, headquartered in Šibenik.
The first library material in foreign languages was donated by the City Library “Juraj Šižgorić” from Šibenik, whose representatives participated in Booksharing – a book fair and comics festival as part of the presentation of this project.
