The 04/05 generation of the Vodice women’s basketball club hosted this week the women’s basketball club PVSK from Pécs in Hungary in the form of mutual contact and sporting meetings occurring over a number of years. Our women's team visited them last autumn in Pécs. The tournament to be held this Saturday in the Vodice Balloon will also include a team from the Split Adriatika and Livno from Bosnia-Herzegovina. Given that sports events are an opportunity to learn about the natural and cultural heritage of the area where our girls from the club live, they decided to take them on a trip. After a friendly morning game, they went by boat to the island of Prvić to visit the Faust Vrančić Memorial Centre. At the Centre they became familiar with the common historical heritage where Faust Vrančić is the link and who during his lifetime lived and worked in Hungary's Veszprem. They also found out that Faust was the author of a first multilingual dictionary in Europe the Dictionary of the five most noble European languages among which are the Croatian and Hungarian languages. The Dictionary is also the first dictionary of the Croatian and Hungarian languages. They also got to know the Homo Volans - flying man, chain bridge, various mills and a number of inventions and constructions which Faust had devised. After the visit to the Centre, the girls proceeded back to Šibenik, the hometown of Faust. We wish them a lot of success in sport and the opportunity to make new cultural discoveries.
